This historic Pousada was the first castle to be adapted to provide accommodation for visitors to travellers. The town of Óbidos which lies in the Costa Prata region and can justly claim to be enchanting with its 13th century castle and walls, and numerous small streets with ancient buildings. King Dinis in 1282 gave the town to his bride Isabel of Aragon as a wedding gift. Later, in 1441, the future King Afonso V here married his cousin Isabel, he being only ten and she eight years old. Guests will find there stay here offers a glimpse into the past of what was once medieval Portugal. There are only nine rooms with a restaurant and bar and the Pousada prides itself on the quality of its service to its guests.
