The attractive Pousada was formerly a notable private dwelling for the nephew of the founder of the Port wine firm, Offley, Forrester & Companhia. James Forrester built the house as residence when visiting the vineyards of the company. It has been well converted into a comfortable and ideal location for visitors to the Vila Real area of the Douro wine region. The Pousada is to be found in the hills to the east of Vila Real in the Transmontana region. It has twenty one rooms, bar and restaurant. In the grounds there are a tennis court and a swimming pool for the benefit of guests.
